Raw and real about being a female halling dancer

The female body changes in a natural cycle every month, and through major transitions such as becoming a mother.

5 dancers explore how these transitions can be thematized in hallingtakt. Is it possible to express something that is most feminine in existence through a dance that has always been developed on men's premises? Through a creative process around menstruation, ovulation and pregnancy, the dancers have searched for new dance via torn abdominal muscles and hat kicks that have never been celebrated in any way. -We want to show a raw and honest picture of what it is like to be a female halling dancer, says Silje Onstad Hålien. And maybe there is a new type of traditional dance that comes out on the other side.
