The Ghost in the Kitchen

The craziest folk music big band in Sweden!

Much has been said about Spöket i Köket: 'children's music for adults', 'a love child between a senseless rave party and a dance at the venue', and more.

The band has played countless concerts around the Nordic countries and Europe, both at major festivals and in clubs, pubs, in backyards, cafes and churches. Nowhere can the audience sit still. Their music comes from Nordic and Canadian folk music traditions, in addition to their own compositions in traditional style, all arranged for Spöket's ingenious arrangement.

It is simply a small catastrophe of home-made folk music in big band format. It is as carelessly screaming as it is safe and lulling, as invigorating as it is relaxing. There are ten musicians who play twenty instruments and sing in four languages. The heel is firmly planted in traditional music, while the toes are jumping in manouche jazz, fusion, heavy metal and a large dose of avant-garde pop à la Frank Zappa. They are something entirely their own, the only ones of their kind!

In 2017 they released the album Den nye spisen , in 2019 Château du Garage came out and in 2022 Kurbits & Flames.
