Almir & Daniel | Bosnia Herzegovina, Serbia
From Bosnia and Serbia to musical friendship in Norway
Bosnian Almir Meskovic and Romanian-Serbian Daniel Lazar fled from opposite sides of a war, and eventually met at the Oslo Academy of Music. They knew immediately that they should play together, and it became both a friendship and a rediscovery of roots through music. Both grew up with folk music in the heart of the Balkans, where music and cultures from all over the world meet and clash. Here you can find everything from gypsy music and klezmer to classical music - and everything in between. No one else could create this brilliant musical mix so genuinely Balkan, and with Nordic and classical elements woven in, than Almir and Daniel. The duo has found their own musical language with both their own compositions and traditional songs from Romania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Serbia.
The duo has played hundreds of concerts for children and young people, and in 2022 their concert “1000 buttons and 4 strings” was named best concert for children and young people by Jeunesses Musicales Internationales.
Almir and Daniel are known for their energetic concerts that are a feast for the senses, with an impressive ability to improvise and connect with the audience. A celebration of creativity and camaraderie.
This year, best friends Almir and Daniel will be playing the morning concerts in kindergartens and at Festplassen, and they will also visit three care centers with a concert for the residents and invited kindergartens, in what we call generational concerts. It's just a pleasure.
