Calabash Tales | Burkina Faso, South Africa, Gambia

Rhythms and stories from West Africa

Calabash Tales is a warm and intimate performance suitable for the whole family. Solo, Bafana and Sarjo come from Burkina Faso, South Africa and Gambia, but have all lived in Norway for a long time. This fine trio takes the audience into the West African griot tradition, where stories, music and rhythm are passed down through generations. The trio plays traditional African instruments such as ngoni, djembe and calabash, and conveys funny and thought-provoking stories about friendship, courage and community.

Calabash Tales is part of the event UT PÅ TUR ALDRI SUR which is held in collaboration with Sunnfjord Museum. The event starts with a walk on the beautiful Mostie by the museum. We walk together from the parking lot up to the noise, where you will hear about noise life in the old days. Afterwards, we go to Sersjantløa and the show Calabash Tales. The show is in Norwegian.
