Lajla Storli | Norway

Proud tradition bearer from Hardanger

Fiddle player and folk singer Lajla Storli is originally from Hardanger. She is a proud bearer of the fiddle tradition that has been in the family for several generations. -The sound of the fiddle opens up and goes deep. The melodiousness of the melodies and folk songs can be a source of joy and comfort. It is something I myself experience as a performing musician, says Lajla. She is passionate about conveying music from soul to soul, and to showcase a tradition with roots far back in time, and is especially happy to play on Førdefestivalen this year, with Peace! as the overarching theme. -Music is a language the whole world understands, it is our language of peace, she says.

Lajla Storli attended Førdefestivalen her international talent program in 1998, and this year she has been invited back as a guest at Seckou Keita's anniversary concert, together with the ngoni player and guitarist Olav Torget Kora player Seckou Keita celebrates 30 years as an artist this year.
