Northopia

A new rising star in the folk music world! (Gabriel Fliflet)

Tour period: 25-29 October

With a strong grasp of the folk music tradition from Western Norway, Nortopia has come as a breath of fresh air to the Norwegian folk music scene. Together they have developed a warm and distinctive expression where sound, rhythm and proximity are central, and where the traditional material is brought to the fore in a modern, lyrical and playful interplay. The three musicians experiment with the roles of their instruments and build bridges between the Hardanger fiddle and toradar traditions. The ambition is to bring the music alive for a contemporary audience, without losing its roots in tradition. Nortopia plays drivingly good dance music, and Gabriel Fliflet describes them as "a new rising star in the folk music world – they play together as if they've been doing it for half their lives already."

This winter, the self-titled debut album, Nortopia, was released, and in the fall of 2026 they are ready to tour in VestaFolk -director.
