Free WIFI throughout Førdehuset

Talented young dancers, Hallingan, sway outside the main entrance to Førdehuset Family Sunday brings together many people of all ages, inside and outside in our main living room, which from this year is equipped with FREE WIFI!!

Førdehuset is now equipped with free WIFI in the cafes, the bustling area, the library, the sports hall, the cloakroom for the main hall, the party hall, the exhibition hall and the music room. This of course makes it easier for those who organize the festival in Førdehuset and for those who visit events at the cultural center.

Førde The municipality has received 150,000 kroner in funding from the EU to establish WiFi4EU. Free WiFi is now available in public areas in Førdehuset . 

WiFi in Førdehuset

It has been a goal to be able to offer the public network to the large influx of guests who come to Førdefestivalen July 3-7, 2019. 

Atea AS has delivered the technical solution and it was operational on June 12, 2019. We can now offer free WiFi with good capacity in public zones in Førdehuset The zones where you can use the wireless network are in the cafes, the common area, the library, the sports hall, the Festival Hall and the music room.

About WiFi4EU

A new EU-funded support scheme called WiFi4EU was launched in Norway in 2018. Norwegian municipalities can apply for grants to offer free WiFi zones to residents and visitors in central areas and public buildings in the municipality. We applied in 2018 and were one of the first municipalities in the country to receive a grant for WiFi4EU.

The support scheme is part of the EU's strategy for a digital single market and has been set aside 120 million euros until 2020. The goal is to finance the development of WiFi zones in 6,000-8,000 municipalities in Europe.
