Førdefestivalen 2020 is CANCELLED

This message was first published on April 30, 2020.

The board of directors Førdefestivalen has today decided to cancel this year's festival, which was scheduled to take place from July 1st to 5th. -It is with a very heavy heart that we cancel the 31st. Førdefestivalen , but based on restrictions that are in effect until September 1st and infection control regulations, it is not advisable for the festival to carry out the planned events in July, says board chairman Arne Osland.

Postponed this year's program until 2021

In parallel with the decision to cancel this year's festival, the management of Førdefestivalen decided that the entire 2020 program will be postponed to 2021. -This means that all artists who were on the program this year, have been offered assignments in Førde next year, says director Per Idar Almås. He hopes that most of them will say yes, so that we can present these great artists in Førde July 7-11, 2021. -We are in a completely unreal situation, and for an international festival like Førdefestivalen , with artists from 29 different countries and an event that brings together around 25,000 spectators, there is no other option but to cancel.
