VestaFolk - new tour venture in Førdefestivalen

Spring 2021 starts Førdefestivalen a new initiative that organizes folk music tours in Vestland county. The initiative has been named VestaFolk , and will meet a need in the folk music community in the region.

-There is no arrangement for touring folk music concerts in Vestland County today, says the director of Førdefestivalen , Per Idar Almås. With VestaFolk We want to make it easier for small and medium-sized organizers around the county to organize concerts by offering ready-made productions at a subsidized price. VestaFolk will provide more playing assignments for musicians, and we also believe that it can result in much-needed recruitment into the genre.  

VestaFolk is inspired by the West Norwegian Jazz Center's touring project The Musical Main Road , and will also be an offering to small local communities that do not have a permanent folk music offering. - Førdefestivalen has a staff of professionals, and through VestaFolk they become a resource for other folk music organizers in the county. -The goal of VestaFolk is more folk music for the people, says Almås. The local organizers get a ready-made promo package for Facebook, Instagram and other channels. Each organizer markets their event, while Førdefestivalen promoting the entire tour.

Folk music on tour with Førdefestivalen

First of all, plan Førdefestivalen one tour in the spring and one in the fall. The response to the spring tour with the trio Høgemo/Moldestad/Mjølsnes - Gamaltnymalt has exceeded all expectations. -We are convinced that this kind of touring is the way to go to increase the number of folk music concerts. Now apply Førdefestivalen financing to continue as a tour guide through VestaFolk -project, concludes Almås.
