Folk music all year round Førdefestivalen

Ingrid Jasmin Vogt and Jesús Morente - a fiery flamenco duo - will play at Larris Scene on October 6th.

 

Førdefestivalen is not only an international folk music festival held every July, but also a year-round organizer of folk music. This fall, it offers a large program, with its own concerts, collaborations, tours and an international family party.

VestaFolk -tour with Bukkene Bruse

First up is VestaFolk -tour with Annbjørg Lien, Steinar Ofsdal and Arve Moen Bergset in Bukkene Bruse. VestaFolk is Førdefestivalen its tour offer to small and medium-sized organizers in Vestland. -The goal of VestaFolk is to get more folk music out to the people, and the offer has been very well received, says the newly appointed director of Førdefestivalen , Sølvi Lien The legendary Bukkene Bruse trio will visit four venues in Vestland county, starting with a concert in Fjelli in Stryn on Thursday, September 22. The following day they will play at the Ciderhuset in Balestrand, and the next two days will visit Kinckløa in Strandebarm and Hardanger Folk Museum in Utne.

Steinar Ofsdal, Annbjørg Lien and Arve Moen Bergset in Bukkene Bruse are back on stage after 15 years and have VestaFolk tour in September.

Swedish, Spanish and Sami

FolkJazzScena is Førdefestivalen its year-round concert stage. Here, the foundation arranges a certain number of concerts in the fall and spring, either alone or in collaboration with others. In October, FolkJazzScena offers acoustic folk music with the Swedish superduo, Mia Marine and Niklas Roswall and passionate flamenco with Ingrid Jasmin Vogt and Jesús Morente, a duo that is making a mark on the Norwegian concert scene. -In addition, the foundation collaborates Førdefestivalen with the Jazz at Jølst festival about a concert with our Sami first lady, Mari Boine. Boine is a great international artist, but has never played at Førdefestivalen , so it's extra nice to be able to present the Mari Boine Trio at Skei on Saturday, October 15th, says Lien.

Folk music and stories on tour

In October we have also arranged a tour with 'Folk music and stories', where musicians Arne M. Sølvberg and Øyvind Lyslo, together with author Arne Henning Årskaug, draw a musical and literary picture of the Norwegian folk composer and fiddler Anders Viken (1898-1977). This is the concert concept developed by Førdefestivalen in collaboration with Rom for ord, the local literature promoter in Sunnfjord municipality. The Anders Viken concert was a big success during this year's festival, and now Breim, Skei and Viksdalen are getting visitors.

In Folk Music and Stories, Arne M. Sølvberg, Øyvind Lyslo and Arne Henning Årskaug draw a musical and literary portrait of the Norwegian composer and fiddler Anders Viken (1898-1977).

Borna's World Day Førde

In November, the table is set again for the international family celebration Borna's World Day. Førde , with many different workshops and activities for children of all ages. This large event makes Førdefestivalen together with Førdehuset and Sunnfjord Cultural School. Another important partner is the Volunteer Centre. They organize the great international café, Fargerike Førde , where the public can buy snacks from all over the world. The cafe is a permanent and important part of Borna's World Day. Førde . Whole Førdehuset is being used during Borna's World Day, and the event is an important multicultural meeting place in the region.

Christmas Guest - this year's Christmas concert with Sigbjørn Apeland, Frank Rolland and Marit Karlberg in Ålhus church.

Christmas guest in December

The autumn season will be concluded in Ålhus church. -This year there will be a folk music Christmas concert with Marit Karlberg, Sigbjørn Apeland and Frank Rolland. The trio will release the album JULEGJEST in December, with a collection of Advent songs and Christmas hymns from Valdres. -This will also be the repertoire at the concert, and it will certainly be a wonderful accompaniment to the last part of the waiting period towards Christmas, concludes Sølvi Lien .
