Sulheim / Odde / Brimi
Atterljomen
A farmer with no musical education or background. No great fiddler. Just an ordinary farmer, immensely fond of nature, and with a sense of beautiful and captivating tones; Sjugurd Garmo was what we call a musical unique. He left behind more than 50 compositions; original, driving and melodious. Music that shone around northern Gudbrandsdalen almost a hundred years ago.
Astrid Sulheim, Bjørn Kåre Odde and Aslak Brimi are a real star trio in folk music in Norway today. All of them are from Lom, and all of them have the musical legacy of Sjugurd Garmo in their luggage. With the ATTERLJOMEN project, they present Sjugurd's music, both with a CD and a collection of notes.
Aslak Brimi (born 1983) has been an active fiddler, minstrel and competitor since 2000 and has won the A-class (elite class) at Landskappleiken, the Norwegian folk music championship, three times. He has been apprenticed to his father, Rolv Brimi, and Bjørn Odde, and has studied at the academy in Rauland. Aslak has a number of recordings behind him, both as a musician, project leader and producer, and he received the state artist grant for 2015 and 2016. He is the leader of Gudbrandsdølenes spelmannslag in Oslo. In 2016, he was named Folk Musician of the Year at the industry event Folkelarm.
