FOLKSOMT – techno collides with Norwegian folk music
The music collective Folksomt fuses the ancient and the electric, creating club folk music.
Norwegian folk music carries with it a rich history of sounds and stories that have been passed down through generations. Techno and electronica represent a global kick for modern expression, with their focus on rhythm, texture and energy. Folksomt is a combination.
Harding fiddle and mouth harp float over deep bass lines, the folk song takes on a new look of beats and sounds that lift and drag. The rhythms of springar, halling and reinlender still beat under the skin and the result is very danceable and dreamy. The audience is invited in, whether you are an experienced folk dancer, free-dancing soul or a nodding club romantic.
Jonas Særsten - synth and drum machine
Lovise Espeland - vocals
Johanna Seim - Hardanger fiddle
Gaute Ullestad Moen - percussion and harmonica
Jonathan Crabbe - guitar
Folksomt will release their debut album on Ta:lik Records on May 8th.
