Pumpegris | Norway
« This is fun and games, but bloody serious; the result is 30 of the most rock-solid and well-played minutes of concert I have ever witnessed at Trondheim Calling. »
Folk music, partying and fun
Cool songs, rock-solid melodies and honest lyrics all night long are the recipe for success for Pumpegris , the new Norwegian folk music favorites. Vocalist Vera Sonne prides herself on everything from kveding to rap, and with good authority the band also picks up elements from funk, shoegaze, folk pop and West African grooves. Both the lyrics and the music have humor and something painful about them, but most of all it shines through that Pumpegris have come to spread Norwegian folk music with partying and fun, just as it originated.
Pumpegris had their big breakthrough last year, with euphoric feedback on their debut album Fritids , produced by Tuva Syvertsen, with rave reviews at concerts around the country, and not least with the award as the Shooting Star of the Year by a unanimous By:larm jury! In record time, the band has risen to the top among Norwegian live bands, and it is with a proud heart that we welcome them to Friday night at Larris Scene.
