Goitse - Ireland

"Lively instrumental music with exciting and unexpected twists, topped off with charming vocals."
– fRoots Magazine

They have been named Traditional Group of the Year (when?) by Live Ireland and Group of the Year by Chicago Irish American News and tour extensively in Europe and the USA; Goitse* is one of the new names shining brightest in the Irish folk music sky at the moment.

Their music is a successful interweaving of their own compositions and ancient traditional melodies. Colm Phelan, world champion on the bodhrán, and Conal O'Kane, who has distinguished himself as one of the foremost guitarists of his generation, lay the musical foundation. Multi-instrumentalist Alan Reid plays mainly banjo and bouzouki. He also has a thorough knowledge of archival collections of Irish music, which adds richness to their repertoire. Daniel Collins, also plays several instruments, but is best known for his intricate and distinctive bass playing on the accordion. On top of that comes the charismatic voice of Áine Mc Geeney, who captivates the audience in a way few others can. artists Together, Goitse creates what Irish Music Magazine calls: "Music that bubbles over with energy and creative joy."

The concert is supported by Culture Ireland.
