Sunnfjord dance rhythms and traditions

Indre Sunnfjord Spelemannslag has both folk music from Sunnfjord and music from the rest of Western Norway in its repertoire. The team's track record includes a number of competition wins, and it can also boast extensive recruitment work in the field of acting and dance. Among its members are several prominent soloists and groups who have distinguished themselves both locally and internationally.

Indre Sunnfjord Spelemannslag was formed on February 9, 1969. The first rehearsals were at Heimyrkjeskulen in Vassenden, with Einar Bakkane from Naustdal as musical director. In 1973, Sigmund Eikås from Jølster took over as musical director, and with the exception of one year, he has been there ever since!
