We send congratulations!
While the festival staff in Førde has been on vacation, other organizers and performers have had more than enough to do, and a couple of key folk music events are worth mentioning: the National Competition, which this year was held in Fagernes from July 19th to 26th in conjunction with the Jørn Hilme Festival, and the National Festival of Old-fashioned Dance, which took place in Lom from August 5th to 9th.
We have registered a number of good performances across the board, but in light of this year's festival program in Førde , it is in order with special congratulations to King's Cup winner Hallgrim Hansegård - who took home the trophy after excellent dancing in a strong final heat in Halling class A.
We also send warm congratulations to Unni Løvlid , who came out on top in the A-class in quintet. We also have to congratulate our own board member, Dagfrid Vallestad Brevik , who secured a place in the A-class in Hardangervidda. There were many other performers from the county who also delivered great results, you can read more about that HERE .
We also congratulate Ingrid Stuhaug on her solid performance at the National Festival of Old-Time Dance, where she achieved an impressive 2nd place in the senior class for solo fiddle/Harding fiddle.
First group ready for Førdefestivalen 2016
Another result worth noting is that Grindstuen and Midtlis won the group stage at the National Festival. They are thus the first group to officially qualify for the Førdefestivalen in 2016. This is as a result of the agreement between the festival and FolkOrg, which ensures that the winner of this class at the National Competition plays in Førde the following year. So, welcome to Førde July 6-10, 2016, Grimstuen and Midtlis!
