In February and March, the stage is set for a couple of gourmet concerts at FolkJazzScena when we have invited Telemarker Mattis Kleppen and the duo Hazelius Hedin to Sunnfjord. Mattis Kleppen and his eminent bass guitar playing will be heard at the Jølstra Museum on Sunday, February 25, and on Thursday, March 22, Esbjørn Hazelius and Johan Hedin will be performing at Larris Scene.

Close to Mattis and the guitar

In his 30-year career, Mattis Kleppen has established himself as a bass guitarist with his own unique repertoire at the intersection of traditional folk music from Telemark, M'balax from Senegal and blues. He has a performing doctorate from the jazz department at NTNUI in Trondheim, and in addition to his own albums, he has participated in about 30 albums with other musicians. His latest project is the solo album BASSGITAR (2017) - and it is this album that is the starting point for the concert this February Sunday. Swedish top duo in March

At LARRIS SCENA on Thursday, March 22, you will experience the musical 'brothers' Hazelius Hedin, who with their heartfelt and melodious folk music have captured the hearts of a large audience both at home in Sweden and abroad - not least here in Norway. The duo has also received a great response outside the genre. Now they are on the way with a new album, and there is nothing to look forward to except Swedish dance songs, fairy tales, love songs and medieval ballads served in eminent arrangements and with brilliant drive. This is Swedish folk music of the very best.

And then there's dancing...

After the concert we clear the dance floor and invite you to dance on a Thursday evening. The first part of the dance session is the Swedish duo who provide the music, and the last part you can swing in reindeer, waltz, polka and more to the tunes of Indre Sunnfjord Spelemannslag In other words, tonight all you have to do is bring your dancing shoes - and let loose!
