Opening concert 2017 - NORDIC SOUND FOLK ORCHESTRA - on NRK TV Sunday June 3rd

On Sunday, June 3, you can get ready for this year's festival - by reliving the historic opening concert from last year, Nordic Sound Folk Orchestra, on NRK TV. The concert will be presented by Arild Erikstad in conversation with Hilde Bjørkum, in the Main Stage at 7:45 PM.

One of the highlights of last year's Førde Festival was the concert with the Nordic Sound Folk Orchestra. The orchestra consists of 40 folk musicians composed of Gudbarndsdølenes Spelemannslag, Folk All-in Band, Baltic Crossing and Harald Haugsgaard Quintet together with 10 soloists. Four Nordic composers have written new music for the occasion; Antti Järvelä (Finland), Mia Marin (Sweden), Harald Haugaard (Denmark) and Jorun Marie Kvernberg (Norway). In addition to new compositions, traditional material from the Nordic countries will also be performed in a new guise. Vocal soloists are Lena Willemark (Sweden), Ulla Pirttijärvi (Sapmi/Finland) and Berit Opheim (Norway). Presented by Arild Erikstad in conversation with Festival Director Hilde Bjørkum.
