PROGRAM CHANGE I: SARAH JANE replaces SARAH
DVS: Sarah Jane Summers & Juhani Silvola replace the Sarah Savoy Trio
Just over a day ago we received a call from a distraught manager for Sarah Savoy. The Toradar player had been unlucky, fell and broke her wrist, had surgery and was in hospital in the US. In other words, she had to cancel all concerts this summer, including the three in Førde , and the two courses she was supposed to take here.
This is a difficult situation to find yourself in three days before the festival starts, but of all things, we have managed to get a new SARAH for the program; SARAH JANE SUMMERS & JUHANI SILVOLA are saving angels and have agreed to do both the concert at Gloppen Hotell on Wednesday, Sommarnatt at Jølster on Thursday and in the tent at Pikant on Friday evening.
Sarah Jane Summers & Juhani Silvola played at the festival in 2015, so with them we have supplemented the program with another reunion artist. Sarah Jane Summers is Scottish and plays the fiddle, but has a master's degree in Norwegian folk music. Juhani Silvola, as the name suggests, is Finnish, and a magician on the guitar. They have released several albums to top marks in the press, and are simply a brilliant duo to listen to when they launch their Scottish-inspired repertoire in the most playful arrangements.
Here you can read more about them - and find links to their concerts.
The two courses Sarah Savoy was supposed to take Førde , is of course unfortunately also cancelled.
