Signe Førre Quartet

  • The banquet hall, Førdehuset 5 Angedalsvegen Førde (map)

Signe Førre Kvartett is an exciting new band of musicians with diverse musical backgrounds. Their music is based primarily on folk music from several cultures.

Double bassist, vocalist and composer Signe Førre is about to embark on an exciting musical career. Her bass playing is described as virtuoso (Avisa Hordaland) and in her quartet she has brought in established musicians who have played with artists such as Vamp, Ole Paus, Anne Grethe Preus, Bjørn Eidsvåg, Tindra, Tore Brunborg, Helene Bøksle, Åge Aleksandersen and Nils Økland, to name a few.

In 2019, Signe Førre was asked to create commissioned work to the unique Finnesloftet in Voss, a challenge she took on headlong! With material from, among others, Norway, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, and with strong inspirations from the musical traditions there, she composed and arranged a musical journey that takes us through different cultures and time periods. Here jazz and folk music merge and gain new life. Signe sings in Serbian, Macedonian, Bosnian, Norwegian, Bulgarian, etc. The music is recorded on a brand new album by ABC Studio and released on Ta:Lik Records. The concert in Førdehuset is part of the album release tour with the debut album “FAGERT” by Signe Førre Kvartett!
