  • Førdefestivalen 5 Angedalsvegen Førde (map)

Instructors: Dancers from Bassant

Rajasthan has a rich musical and circus tradition. In the traditional Kalbeliya tradition, snake dance, the dancer gracefully imitates the soft movements of the snake. This sensual dance is a tradition of the gypsy caste, which is well known for healing and snake taming. Another tradition, the spectacular Fakir Dance, is performed in colorful costumes and is inspired by the life of the women of the Thar Desert.

Bassant comes from Rajasthan and has its origins in the meeting between artists from different religions and different castes or social classes.
