QUARTZ

With a history of almost 25 years, Kvarts has been around longer than any other Norwegian folk music group. They mix, refine and innovate, and serve an exquisite blend of traditional music and their own compositions with light touches from other genres. Here, minor moods and happy mazurkas go hand in hand with playful reindeer songs and lovely waltzes. The four musicians in Kvarts are as well-integrated as they can be, and the joy of playing never ends.

Kvarts has released and participated in a number of CD productions, in addition to releasing several singles, in recent years. The latest production so far, Ved myrke midnattstid , was released in 2021, where Kvarts plays together with the vocal ensemble Multa Paucis. Artistically, they have had many musical collaboration projects, among others with the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, the Trondheim Soloists, Jonas Fjeld and Eldbjørg and Ragnhild Hemsing. Kvarts has also received two Spellemann prizes and written commissioned work for Vossa Jazz, Folkemusikkveka and Rikskonsertene. Over the years they have participated in a long series of radio and TV programs, and tour both domestically and internationally.
