Høgemo & Karlsrud

Well-established duo with a large repertoire from the West Coast!

When Håkon Høgemo and Tom Karlsrud set out on VestaFolk tour, it is with a rich material of local folk music traditions from Western Norway in the repertoire; folk songs, lydarslåtta and various forms of dance music that they have arranged between themselves. Høgemo and Karlsrud have played together since the 90s, and in 2016 released the album Samdrag , with a focus on the playing of the melodies of the older dance forms, such as springar, gangar and halling. Through their many years of interaction, the duo has developed their own way of playing these melodies – where the fiddle and accordion seamlessly alternate between leading the melody and being the accompaniment.
