Bríd Harper & Magnus Wiik
Irish folk music in fiddle-guitar format!
Bríd Harper and Magnus Wiik met in 2022 for an impulsive tour as Norway was on its way out of the pandemic. Together with Tony O'Connell, they debuted at Riksscenen's first Norse Gaels festival, and the same year they also played at Førdefestivalen With fiddle and guitar they worship Irish folk music in close and dynamic interaction. The only gimmick is that it should be driving and danceable!
Bríd Harper (fiddle) hails from Castlenn in Donegal, and is considered one of the best. Period. The kind of fiddle player that others in the field speak of with awe. Her solo albums stand as classics in the genre.
Magnus Wiik (guitar) is known to many through bluegrass bands such as Open String Department and Julie & The New Favorites. He is a genius when it comes to interpreting music. Before bluegrass, in the early 2010s, Wiik toured with Irish folk music at all festivals where Irish was on the bill, and played with names such as Gerry O'Connor, Ronan Ryan and Tony O'Connell.
