The autumn program for FolkJazzScena

The autumn program at FolkJazzScena: Sjantiar in September, gypsy music in October, Bornas Verdsdagar Førde and Glimesteinar - a literary concert - in November.

The first concert at FolkJazzScena this fall will be in Florø on Saturday, September 8. Then there will be a reunion and a reunion with the world's most wonderful shanty choir, namely the Storm Weather Shanty Choir from Stord. Energetically led by Haakon Steinar Vatle, who has a university degree in shanty, they offer up catchy sailor songs and bold stories from the seven seas. The seven rocking stordabuane have been keeping things going for years, and are a popular fixture on concert stages all over the country - and they have some of their most loyal fans in Japan!

Britt Synnøve Johansen and Gjertrud's Gypsy Orchestra

Gjertrud's Gypsy Orchestra with Britt Synnøve Johansen

On October 12th, Gjertrud Økland and her gypsy orchestra will come to Larris Scene in Førde . She can be found daily in the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, but since the 80s Gjertrud Økland has cultivated her passion for Eastern European gypsy music in her own orchestra. Through collaboration with leading musicians from different traditions, they have acquired the countless variations that exist in this musical tradition, and Gjertrud's Gypsy Orchestra is today in a unique position when it comes to conveying the feelings and passion that this music is about. In collaboration with singer Britt Synnøve Johansen, most recently best known for the successes of Piaf performances and Beauty and the Beast, they mix music they have previously performed on their own terms with new songs that neither of them has done before. From their respective worlds they draw lines between gypsy music and folk songs, Piaf, tango and fado - and every note and every verse is delivered with great heart.
