What can a woman be? Is there anything today that she cannot or should not be? Is there something feminine and masculine in dance and what happens to the gender roles in Norwegian folk dance when women in 2020 get to play both roles and take the most intense “carnival”? In Norway, the veil has been used to both control and seek freedom. Can Norwegian clothing and movement traditions provide a new perspective on today's use of the hijab?

In SKAUT, choreographer Hallgrim Hansegård and five co-creative dancers focus on the themes of covering, uncovering and controlling the body. The women both tighten and loosen their hair through bound contemporary dance and free folk dance.

SKAUT is a new down-to-earth vision with sky-high ambitions from FRIKAR.
