Carpe diem – flamenco that celebrates life itself

The Mexican dancer and choreographer, Bellali Austria, came to Norway in 2011. She has started a flamenco ensemble and a flamenco festival, and through her many projects she has performed on stage at everything from the Norwegian Opera and Ballet to Førdefestivalen , Oslo World, Riksscenen, Cosmopolite to name a few. In Førde You have experienced her both at the festival in July (2021) and on several occasions as an instructor for children at Bornas Verdsdag. We are excited to experience Bellali Austria's newest dance project, Carpe diem, which is a tribute to life itself.

Every day is a new chance to take a breath, kick off your shoes and dance!
— Bellali Austria.

On Sunday, November 5th, she will come to Larris Scene in Førde with the flamenco performance Carpe diem, packed with both dance and live music. In Carpe diem, Bellali Austria mixes mysticism and flamenco temperament with traditional flamenco music and tones and rhythms from all around. She draws inspiration primarily from the ancient Mexican Nahua culture, which was on the verge of disappearing during the Spanish invasion in the 16th century. Today, the Nahua people live in Central America, and Bellali Austria is particularly fascinated by their view of the life cycle as something absolutely essential in the world: We are all seeds, and after our death new life arises.

Welcome to a show that celebrates life, and as a Mexican proverb says: What you have danced, no one can take away from you!
