Intimate and boundless music

Førdefestivalen aims to present musical traditions from other cultures, not only at the festival in the summer, but also the rest of the year. When we present singer and poet Sarah Camille on September 21st, we will travel to the French island paradise of Martinique in the Caribbean, where she has her roots on her mother's side. Sarah Camille will launch her third album at Kulturkirken Jakob at the end of September, but before that we will get Førde a preview of the new material. As a 'warm-up' for the concert at Larris Scene, Sarah Camille plays with her own KORK in Oslo.

Sarah Camille has a unique expression and charisma that appeals to both her young and adult audience. With her close and warm vocals, she conveys surprising lyrics in Norwegian – and occasionally in her native French – and is supported by elegant and rhythmic arrangements. The music is soft and playful, and is close to both folk, jazz and folk music.

With the album Spor av dråper og røde nebb, Sarah Camille won the Spellemannprisen for best children's album in 2020. The following year, the album Vingeslag was released, and now she is ready with her third album, which is titled våkner i en andran dag . Together with her musicians, Jørn Erik Ahlsen Alkanger and percussionist Sidiki Camara, she will come to Larris Scene with music from all three albums. -The three of us play a lot together, but have never had a concert in Førde . It will be very beautiful, they say, and welcome you to music that opens up to the small moments, nuances and wonder.

Sidiki Camara – percussion

SAID ABOUT:

"There is a particularly good symbiosis between Alkanger and Camara, since Alkanger's chord progressions on the guitar are often translated into a percussion-like use of fingerplay – plinks and ploinks that support Camille's melody. This technique, in tandem with Camara's deft and steady use of his djembe, provides a starry scattering of sounds that convey the songs in an intimate and at the same time cheerful tone. Slightly swaying in our seats, we in the audience are completely receptive to the lyrics that are presented." Elisteinar Tenga. (Ballade)

"...Sarah Camille is a strong storyteller who deserves to be listened to - often and for a long time..." Tor Hammerø (Nettavisen, dice roll 5)

«...It is in our experiences of movement, closeness and belonging that Sarah Camille operates..." «...a particularly beautiful affair..." Elisteinar Tenga, (Ballade)
