Melody on Larris Stage

  • Larris Scene 2 Storehagen Førde , Norway (map)

After a fantastic concert at Førdefestivalen 2021, we can finally welcome Meelodi back to Førde ! In collaboration with Jølster Jazzklubb, we invite you to listen to a concert with string master Ole André Farstad and singer Medi Farmani and their eminent band: Per Jørgensen on trumpet, Nawar Alndaffad on oud and vocals, Snorre Bjerck on percussion and Anders Bitustøyl on bass.

Music from all over the world – with heart and mind

Based in Bergen, Meelodi has created a unique and beautiful expression where instruments from all over the world are mixed with Persian and Arabic poetry. They have three albums behind them. The Great Blue Wheel made it to the Top of the World list when the international music magazine Songlines summarized the album year 2021. The fourth album is just around the corner. In addition to Førdefestivalen, Meelodi has played at festivals such as Melafestivalen, Folkelarm, Nattjazz, Bergen International Music Festival and OK Sessions at the National Jazz Scene.

About the musicians

The six musicians are well-known names from the Bergen music scene. Snorre Bjerck can be heard with, among others, Siwan, Batagraf and Transjoik. Here he plays together with bassist Anders Bitustøyl who has also toured far and wide with Bjørn Tomren and Sigrid Moldestad. Trumpetist Per Jørgensen is among the greatest musical treasures we have in this country. The same can be said of Nawar Alndaffad . She came from Syria to Bergen in 2015 with an unusual musicality, something she is currently studying further at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo.

Medi Farmani is actually a painter, but also proves to have great expressive power as a vocalist, with exquisite timing and not least stage presence. Primus motor Ole André Farstad is as comfortable with corpse makeup in the metal band Abbath as he is at children's concerts with Tres Musicos. He probably also has the largest collection of string instruments you will find in Bergen – yes, maybe in the country.

A warm welcome to the concert!
