Roundtable conference on religious diversity
Friday, July 8, 12:00-14:00
Location: The Music Room, Førdehuset (2nd floor) - Free admission
One of the new concert productions at the festival is the church concert Syriske bøner - Syrian Prayers, which is a collaboration between the festival and Kirkelig Kulturverksted. As part of this collaboration, we are also organizing a roundtable conference, where we ask the question of the conditions for religious diversity in a region in disintegration. What are the challenges? What can representatives of the different religions contribute to show that they recognize each other? Can we draw experiences from other countries, e.g. Norway, when it comes to models for religious dialogue?
The participants are: Ivar Skippervold , known as a teacher, music school principal, freelance writer, musician and artist, and now a vicar in the Norwegian Church; Bushra Ishaq, Norwegian-Pakistani social debater, doctor and author. She received the Fritt Ord Prize in 2010 for her great commitment to interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
Participants in the church concert production also participated, and the moderator is Erik Hillestad from Kirkelig Kulturverksted.
