Sigrid Moldestad wants to save the music she loves
An old dilapidated house has become a passion for Sigrid Moldestad. For two years she has sacrificed both time and money to turn Pederhuset in Breim into a musical meeting place. NRK has followed her through ups and downs, and on Tuesday 11 December you can watch the program on NRK.

Sigrid Moldestad is one of the most prominent folk musicians in the country. She currently lives in Bergen with her two children, but her musical roots lie in Breim in Nordfjord.
When Sigrid grew up, there was a fiddle in every other house in her hometown. She herself started playing when she was 11 years old. But it is a sadness for Sigrid that young people no longer care about folk music. The music has been passed down from generation to generation, but she is afraid she has no one to pass on the legacy to.

Learned to play the fiddle in the house next door
One of Sigrid's teachers was her neighbor Peder Råd. The old house has been empty for many years, and it has gradually fallen into disrepair. The garden around it has grown back, just like the traces left by Peder Råd and many other great Norwegian folk musicians.
Therefore, Sigrid decided to restore the house and fill it with music. Here she will gather musicians and hold concerts. Here she will train new fiddlers - men and women.
Needs work and money
Since Sigrid took over Pederhuset two years ago, she has dreamed of opening the doors in December 2018. But she can't do it alone. She needs financial support, villagers who want to volunteer, and a family who believes in her project.
What is really at stake for Sigrid is whether she can get young people interested in folk music. Will they want Hardanger fiddle and folk music?
Is there anyone at Pederhuset who wants to learn to play the fiddle the same way she did?
