The power of culture in a changing society was the highly topical headline for Førdekonferansen 2016.

The fall season at FolkJazzScena is underway. In September we got to experience the duo Odde & Holmen at Ungdomhuset Skogstjerna in Markane in the barn at Jølstramuseet.

She had already planned the celebration of her next birthday in September, but thanks to a generous gift on Førdefestivalen their festival breakfast on Saturday, July 9th this year, the celebrants were able to invite their closest friends to an extra celebration on the same day.

Førdefestivalen are very happy to receive funds from the gift reinforcement scheme.

Presenter Lavleen Kaur, who guided us safely through this year's opening concert, did so in a beautiful creation, signed by designer Cecilie Melli.

Over the course of five days, we have used our senses well. We have heard a lot, seen, felt, laughed, danced and maybe shed a tear or three. The last day of the festival is always a bit sad.

The weather gods wouldn't sign a contract with Førdefestivalen this year. Nevertheless, Saturday was to be one of the hottest days of the summer.

On the third day of the festival, we were to be reminded of the seriousness behind this year's festival theme, and experience unforgettable concerts with some of the biggest stars on the program.

Syriac Orthodox Mass is celebrated in Førde church early Sunday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This is probably the first time such a mass has been celebrated in this country.

It was going to be a moving encounter with the proud artist from Eritrea. For the audience, it became clear, to put it mildly, that the refugee situation is much easier to talk about than to live in.

The second day of the festival had a wide range of performances from juggling madness to Jewish angel singing.
